A male reader, Sam.Lowings-Henderson United Kingdom +, writes (7 October 2008):

ok i had exactly the same problem with my wife now. i mean i asked her out when i was 16 and like you i was best mates with her. i mean i think being honest here, i wouldnt say that me and my wife are much different now than we were as high school friends. i mean yeah its kinda scary but thats only because you are afraid that she'll say no. i mean she obviously likes your personality otherwise you two wouldnt be best mates! i asked me wife to first go out with me face to face, because a letter of something like that can seem kinda meaningless. yeah its scary, but at the end of the day she's your friend. just grit your teeth and ask her straight out. also i personally would ask her out somewhere private. good luck m8!

First of all be sure your freindship will survive the split up of a ralationship, and second of all if your to shy or scared to tell her to her face pop it down in a letter or a text or a phone call you havent got to face her that way.xx
