A female Canada age 51-59, anonymous writes:

"hi there, i somewhat attracted to my fitness instructor. everytime i take his class, he can't seem to take his eyes off me. i'm somewhat shy, but i do stare back at him. the problem is that he has no problem speaking to other women but when it comes to me he doesn't know what to say. i say hi how are you doing. and he says fine or thank you. which i find very odd. i want to send him a christmas card asking him out on a date. but i'm scared if it doesn't work out and i want to return to his class what i should do. i've asked my friends about this. the idea is good. but what i want to say in the card is, i'm the brunette that you can't seem to take your eyes off of. They both don't like that because they say that it will hurt his ego or make him feel insecure. i don't know how to word this card. i really need help. what is your opnion on this. i think it's no problem saying those words to a guy but they don't think those are words i should use. please help

thank you"

A female reader, PeanutButter United States +, writes (19 December 2009):

PeanutButter agony auntI definitely agree that you shouldn't say that you're the brunette he can't keep his eyes off of, you'll end up making him feel like a stalker.

Maybe instead of asking him on a date by writing in the card, you should write him a simple merry xmas card and give it to him. While you're handing him the card you can say to him "Here, I just wanted to say "Merry Christmas". Perhaps I can take you for coffee in the new year?" and see what happens...

Be subtle and not too over friendly, that might scare him away...

A coffee is innocent and friendly enough, you can go from there!
