How do I tell my grandmother we're a couple?

A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I've recently started dating a guy that I can seriously spend the rest of my life with, the only problem is telling my grandmother. The deal is that I work with both of them. My grandmother and this guy have been working together for 13 years and I started working there only 3 months ago. My grandmother and this guy have a love/hate relationship. They argue like cats and dogs but it's just the way they are. The guy respects and loves my grandmother as she was his own. I just don't know how she will react to the news. I need someway of telling her but can't figure it out. Please if anyone has any advise let me know.

You should not tell her... I think you should let your boyfriend do it. If he loves her as you say, it will only be a wonderful gesture in your granmother's eyes. She will see it as a respectful act, and love him for the rest of your lives. Although, this act might allow him to become her favorite, I hardly think you mind. :)
