Anyway we both sat on my horse on the way back to the house after a long walk (my horse is fine with this and it doesn't hurt him) I sat at the front and J at the back so I could control my horse and the movement of me close to J gave him a boner. He went kinda shy and dealt with it asap but we haven't really talked since. What do I say to him? If I'm 100% honest I'm quite proud that I gave him a boner

You say NOTHING...at 16 boys get erections from ANY and EVERYTHING.... and it embarrasses them. How would you feel if you got wet panties so badly it leaked through your jeans and he saw your wet spot? would you want J to say something?
at his age tight pants can cause an erection. YOU need NOT take any CREDIT For this my dear.
Now when he's 45 and this happens just this way... then yeah... maybe you had something to do with it.

Ignore it for HIS sake. No boy wants to talk to a girl about the boner he had. But Do call him and talk about other things and for a while pretend it didn't happen. IF he brings it up, just be honest and tell him it's no big deal.
Bringing it up may be WAY awkward for him.
Boys at 16 can't control their erections, so have a little sympathy for him :) and yes, DO take it as an unspoken COMPLIMENT, no more. Basically HIS body liked your body.
