How do I talk to my sister about her taking my DVD and deteriorating it?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have just discovered that my sister borrowed my favourite DVD without my permission. Not only this; she also had the audacity to leave it on a rough surface, causing it to become very scratched. When I told my mum about this, she confessed that she'd seen her using my DVD many, many times before - all behind my back! I am so angry at her!!!

What should I do? She's the sort of person who, if I confront, will immediately give a seemingly sweet apology which is in fact insincere. I swear she has 0 empathy. I want her to be genuinely sorry for what she did, and to maybe even make up for it in some way. But I just don't know how to go about this!

hi

I think you should give her the silent treatment for a while as if you don't care and just don't want her in your life, its tough love. as you said she did alot to you,so I think the best way is just silent treatment. you'll have her crawling back for your forgiveness.=)

good luck.
