first of all, be realistic, dropping from an 8 to a 5 in 2 1/2 weeks is not practical OR healthy! However, you can do several things to make yourself look and feel better in that amount of time. If it's your waist you are concerned about, stop eating carbs NOW. Now, I'm not a proponent of fad diets, I believe EVERYTHING in moderation (including pasta and bread). However, it is a known fact that people store sugars from carbs around their belly area. So...if you only have 2 1/2 weeks, that's a great place to start. I'd stick to veggies and lean meats, eggs, a little fruit (although that is high in natural sugar AND considered a carb, so not too much). Drink plenty of water (anything else is added calories and sugar, not needed!). Definitely get yourself moving, too. Do some cardio - even if it's just walking on your lunch break every day (if you have one). I have found a GREAT way to tone my abs is with pilates (i'm a big fan of the winsor pilates). Also, boxing uses great ab muscles. If you're not super motivated try doing some planks a few days a week. Just remember, take a break between work out days. Your muscles actually change while they're recovering, so be sure to skip days in between intense training (such as boxing/pilates/planks). FINALLY, make sure to find the right, flattering outfit. Depending upon what the dress is for your event, you could wear an empire waisted dress to hide a belly, a fitted blazer to lend you the curves in the right place, you get the idea...good luck, I am SURE you will look WONDERFUL!

I don’t think you can lose inches in 2 and a half weeks. Dixiegirl is right about bloating. That’s the one thing that can make a big difference on the day. Don’t starve yourself, just don’t overeat, or drink fizzy stuff. Sit-ups might start to have an effect, but not much. Don’t panic about this. Picking the best outfit to flatter you is your best bet. Don’t try to get into something that you love, but which is too small. That is a sure fire way to appear a dress size bigger than you are. Get advice from a friend you trust about what makes you look slimmest – not someone that’s so into fashion that she will pick the coolest thing even if it isn’t the best thing. If you are able to buy a new outfit, then get advice from a good shop assistant. Different styles and cuts of clothes flatter different shapes – you would be amazed by how much difference picking the right style can make. That way you can look like you dropped a dress size in 2 weeks. Have fun!
