Tampons should be fine for you to use, whatever the status of your hymen, and you are not going to break anything with a tampon or hurt yourself.
Buy some tampons in the smallest size, slender or mini, and read the instructions very carefully - they will explain how to insert one. Don't worry if you can't do it at first, just stay relaxed and keep trying. The applicator ones are easiest when you are young.
Also, take time to get to know your body. Have a warm bath to relax you and make you all clean, and then use your fingers to explore your body, and use a mirror. Have a good look and a good feel - this is a GOOD thing to do. The more familiar you can be with your own body the more you will be relaxed and able to deal with things like tampons, and in many years time, sex.
