I'm 18 and when I was with my last girlfriend we had a good time together and then at the end when I would kiss her (like a quick one on the lips) it was clumsy and she probably could have compared it to kissing a wet fish. We've broken up now and I I want to make sure next time I don't appear like an idiot when kissing any future girlfriend.

reader, anonymous, writes (12 June 2006): dude... you gotta take your time..."a quick one on the lips" sounds like youre a wee bit self conscious....relax! kissing is fantastic fun! chill and enjoy it...it you lunge in youre gonna miss, head-butt her etc.
Things to avoid: 1) bad breath 2) bad breath 3) bad breath 4) too much tongue - more is less!
Things to enjoy: dont keep your lips to firm, relax..try this on the back of your hand..(girls do this all the time man!) see how different pressures feel on your lips..
When you kiss a girl next try starting with smaller kiss, almost nibbling, each of her lips seperately gradually getting bigger until both your lips cover one of hers..
move to the other lip and do the same....if your going for the passionate crush remember...humans need to breath!! and this isnt a wrestling contest..press your closed lips again hers then part gradually...
Ive met some girls who just lop their tongue in your mouth and leave it there - not hot at all ...less is more dude..light lick on the inside of her lips and (depending on what she likes) on her teeth and the tip of her tongue..
but again, relax & enjoy..its natural it will come to you. when relaxed you will know what feels good and when youre that close to someone you will know if she enjoys what is happening. there is no way you can learn, it's just practice. Though when I was in the same situation as you, I read about it on the BBC Teens website and it gave me a few guidelines.
You go onto www.bbc.co.uk/teens then go onto the girls section (I know it will feel a bit wrong but trust me on this one!) And click on the "A to Z of you" Scrol down and click the link that says "Kiss with Confidence" It heped one of my friends a lot and now you practically have to prise her and her boyfriend apart!
