reader, anonymous, writes (15 June 2007): Sorry to say, as much as it hurts that he has told you you both must go your separate ways, you really have no choice but to accept it.
He said he is not ready to be in a relationship, so what are you going to do? You can't force him to be in one or to change his mind - and even if you could, it would not be wise to do so. People don't react well when pressured.
Right now, the hurt is very new and raw. Take a few days to grieve and to talk about it with someone you trust, but then begin to take up actvities you enjoy and spend time with your friends and family. In time, it will fade and be much less painful.
Just think: if you and he were right for one another this would not have happened.
You have your whole life ahead of you to learn and grow, and do exciting things. You will meet many other boys and eventually find one who makes you happy, and vice versa.
Cry now - and then,later on, be brave, and put on a smile - even if you don't always feel like smiling. Eventually you WILL.
