 You need space from him. You need to move on with your life without him being in your mind all of the time, and you can do that by applying discipline.
The more contact you have with him, but your own admission, it ignites your feelings.
For the first little while it will seem harder, but it gets easier. One technique I use is to "fake it" until I actually feel it. If I tell myself, my friends and behave as though I am over him, eventually I will be.
