Misunderstandings usually involve two people...if he is not willing to talk to you about it, then he is either too hurt to forgive you just yet, or he doesn't care enough about keeping you. You calling him all the time gives him all of the power, as if it is only his decision if you will have a relationship or not....so stop calling and walk away. If he looks you up when he is ready, then you can say you are sorry, but if he doesn't then you did not have much of a relationship anyway. People who love each other do not leave or disappear just because of a misunderstanding.

Send him a "I'm sorry" card or note and wait for him to get in contact with you.

Stop calling! He knows you want to talk to him and when he's ready to talk to you, he will contact you. Right now you're probably just pushing him farther away by calling all the time.
