How do I earn his trust back?

Tagged as: Breaking up, Troubled relationships<< Previous question   Next question >>
Question - (31 May 2011) 1 Answers - (Newest, 25 September 2011)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I 've dumped my ex-boyfriend twice within a two month period. Honestly, the first time I dumped him was because he hadn't contacted me in three whole days. So I returned his belongings, and I when I did his mother answered the door. He ended up calling me the next day, and we reconciled; although he truly didn't have a rational reason for not having contacted me for those three days. Yesterday, we had gotten into a blow-out argument over something petty, and I dumped him again. I now regret it and I want to make it work. He mentioned that he's done with me because this is the second time I've dumped him. But on the other hand, he also mentioned that he would give me another chance, but there are some things in which we need to discuss.

Do you think a third chance is possible?

angelDlite agony aunti think a third chance is possible BUT is the relationship going to just carry on in the same way if you do get back together? i think he hurt you badly by not contacting you for three days, there was no need for him to do that and i do not blame you for being annoyed and dumping him. he won you back that time but the relationship was damaged, by his treatment of you and the subsequent dumping. there is now resentment on both sides and you both feel like you have been treated unfairly.

the only way to get past this and move on healthily is to talk about what happened and get both your feelings out in the open. the question is though - do you really think it is a good idea to get back together or are you just in panic mode at the moment because being without him is still new and you feel raw? relationship breakdowns are entirely possible to get over, especially when the relationship is not a good and mutually respectful one. breaking up is hard but sometimes it is the right thing to do rather than keep resurrecting something that is not good for you
