A male reader, dave111 United Kingdom +, writes (22 October 2007):

hey dude. I used to have exactly the same problems but now I'm totally over it.

I liked this girl in my physics class since around November 05. I never had the guts to talk to her but she must have noticed me look at her a couple of times. I let time take its course and it got to around May 06 when I finally told my mates that I liked her, because obviously by then my feelings had gotten stronger. Eventually, she found out that I liked her and she even gave me her number.

That night, I rang her straight up and all I did was be myself, talked about my interests, talked about her interests and found things that we had in common. I wasn't afraid of talking to her.

All you need to do is remind yourself "wait, this is a girl, a human girl" She doesn't speak another language. It's not as if she won't understand you, she might even be the shy type like you. If thats the case then getting on with eachother will be easier because you both know how you both feel.

Oh, and if your wondering whether I was succesful with being myself? I'm still with that girl now. :)
