Today I e-mailed a couple more I know from way back and later when I log back in I get a "friend request". I think great they've answered my e-mail already, however it turns out to be someone I worked with within the last two years, who how can I put it:1) I dislike2) Thinks is a total arse3) Who I don't need as a friend me knowing the type of person they are.My question here is what do I do,I know I'm not going to answer the friend request in a positive way but do I blatantly ignore it but not press the ignore key. Bearing in mind that I occassionally like to post up comments and the person in question knows a lot of the people I work with. So they will see I go online but am obviously ignoring them. Thanks

Make sure all your profile is set to friends only and click ignore. That doesn't get announced to the other person, and as long as your profile is friends only then they'll never know whether you have been online or not. It's not a big deal to ignore someone you don't like, we all do it.

Press ignore. It's not often people announce that they've been rejected to other people!

There might be some advantage to being slightly more friendly with someone you don't really get along with. It could make your relationship with this person more civil in the work place. The disadvantage is that personal information/inappropriate/lude or humorous details might be shared amongst your other colleagues.
No matter what you decide, I think that it is wise never to share very personal details or material on any social site.
