How can we make sex last longer?

Question - (13 June 2013) 4 Answers - (Newest, 16 June 2013)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend and I have been together almost a year and a half now, and we recently became fully sexually active about two months ago. I was a virgin, and he was still healing from past catastrophic relationships. The last time he was active was almost 6 years ago, so I understand his body freaking out a little.

Since the first time, we have done it maybe 5 or 6 times, and he can never stay hard for longer than 2 minutes or so. This morning was our first try in a month because I went home to visit my family for the summer, and it was no different. He doesn't come early, it just doesn't stay hard. It's kind of an ego bruise to me, even though he says it's not my fault, he says his body is just weird and takes time to adapt to change.

I guess what I want to ask is, does it get better? Has anyone else had this problem when starting out? It's not like it's bad sex though, even thought it's short, its really good. That's the bad part, he knows very well how my body works, and it always happens when I'm really close to finishing.

I'm in town for a week visiting him before I have to leave for a summer job, and he insists we will figure this whole thing out before I leave, but I want to know if it's possible. Is there anything I can do to help? Please, anything is helpful, I just want to be able for fully experience the wonderfulness of sex.

He is the only boy in his generation, and the only one to carry on the name, so his parents took him as soon as he hit puberty to have everything checked out and all was normal.

He hasn't masturbated in a couple weeks to try to make sure he'd be ready to go while I'm here. As for the ego stroking, that's my full time job it seems. He's a really sensitive guy, so I'm always talking him up and making sure he knows I love him. And I always make a comment or two about him being big and his much I love his equipment. I just want a decent sex experience. So far its not looking like all its cracked up to be, which is more than a bit upsetting with how long I waited.

person12345 agony auntThis is actually pretty common among some guys who have been single for awhile. My first piece of advice would be for him to lay off masturbation for awhile. He may be desensitizing himself. That solves it in many many cases.

If not, he could just have some performance anxiety, and it's important not to put pressure on the situation, and to just try to relax and stroke his ego a bit.
