I work on the till most of the time and as part of my personality and my job, I am friendly and polite to all my customers. However, there are some I am more friendly with although I am particularly careful with the guys, especially those who seem close to my age and don't fancy! Nevertheless, there is this one guy (rather man) who is more than a regular and I serve him on most of his shopping trips. He always tries to make conversations and even gave me a Chinese New Year card recently. I answer him back just to be polite and enjoy my job. Too bad, I don't fancy him at all as he drinks a lot and doesn't have a very good job, but finally had the courage to ask me out earlier today! How do I turn him down nicely? and have I been 'too' friendly to my regular customers which send the wrong message?? If so, how should I treat such customers? Please help. I used to have problems letting guys down nicely, I used to lie that I have a boyfriend. But I've since learnt that you have to be honest. Just say, "thank you, but I'm not interested" and smile.
