reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2010): It's tricky to tell what a girl's sexual preference is by just looking at them. I know how hard it can be to ask a girl out when you can't tell if she's into girls too. .
Basically, what others before me have said can be a good indicator at times. However, you can never tell for sure by just watching them. I know some lesbians who most people can't tell are gay (myself included, I've been told); yet I also know some who really stand out (as in the lesbian equivalent of those girl-crazy guys), such as one of my best friends. The easiest way, aside from outright asking her, is to just find out from someone who knows her better, or someone who knows someone who knows her.

Having a best friend who's a lesbian has taught me one thing. Its impossible to tell. She acted straight for 3years, and then came out to me at macdonalds and I was sooo proud. But, now i can tell. Well, she has a girlfriend. But, in answer to your question, try looking out to see if she looks at girls when she thinks you aren't watching, does she prefer more female celebrities to male? Is she overly flirty with girls who she knows are lesbians? These could, but might not, mean she is a lesbian. However, I'm saying this from my own experience and not all lesbians are like this, so don't try to look for exactly what I'm saying.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 July 2010): To be honest with you, it's really hard to tell if she's a lesbian. Sometimes, action do the talk but not all priciple apply to everyone. What you can do is to know her better. Be her friends, and get to know her. By talking with her, or having some casual activities together should give you some hints. One thing, i notice is that if someone is interested with you, he/she will stare or you. Then look to other places, and again look back to you for several times.
