How can I tell him I'm not comfortable on top when he's just trying to protect me?

Question - (28 November 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 28 November 2008)
A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

When I was younger I was sexually abused. I have had help to get past this and now I feel comfortable with the idea of having sex with my boyfriend. He has told me he wants to also, but is getting a bit over the top when it comes to his idea of making me feel safe. The biggest issue is he thinks I'll be better off on top, but for some reason I just don't feel comfortable being there. How can I explain this to him when he's just trying to protect me?

A female reader, Asked Angel United Kingdom +, writes (28 November 2008):

Asked Angel agony auntHun, i think you just have to be honest with him. There's alot of ladies who don't like being on top and it's nothing to do with abuse but their confidence about themselves.

I think just try and explain to him that you appreciate him trying to make you feel safe but being on top is not something you want to do yet.

Started a sexual relationship is a massive step for lots of people and i think the best way to start it is by being totally honest with your partner.

Good luck sweetie xx
