It's not the lighting and the mood that makes the romance.
It's how you display your feelings and strengthen/share the connection with your partner.
Involve some photos or memories (maybe put photos or things from dates onto a sheet, hide it and bring it with you, after you set up the tent and when he's not looking hang it up in the tent)....write a message in the sand and find a way to light it up....prepare something to help you remember the night....
other general ways to be romantic: share something you've never told him before, tell him how you feel about him, go run into the waves together naked and play/wrestle....open your heart even if its scary.

Don't worry thought I know how you feel! I find it really hard to be romantic to, its just not in me? if that makes at all any sense, but personally the moments I find most romantic are the times you just share together, like the snuggles etc, I'm pretty sure without you knowing it, it will just come to you naturally on the night :)

Hey, firstly I think thats a really sweet idea what you guys are doing together, but I recommend thinking carefully about where you set up your tent as you can be told the leave the beach by police etc (silly I know!) I would also suggest candles, but candles and a tent prob won't mix... so how about a campfire? snuggle together roasting some marsh mellows while watching the sun set. Oh! also have you ever thought about it this way,... I believe there is a complete different between sex and making love, why don't you try making love to each other, its a lot more intimate as your bodies are closer and a lot slower.. anyways wishing you all the best and hope this helps!
