writes: I have recently had a massive break up with my girlfriend which has resorted in violence, We have both seen that there is a way through this and are willing to try but we dont know how to repair the damage that I have caused with her father, which up until know I have had a great relationship with. Have you any suggestions on how I would approach him, or have I lost any relationahip that I had with him?

You can't regain someone's trust in a moment. It takes a lot of hard work and gestures that show you've changed. Remember that words are easy. He won't be convinced if the best you can do is tell him that it won't happen again. You need to spend every moment you have trying to show him. Even saying all of that there's still a chance that he won't be able to forgive you but it's the only thing that has a chance of working.
