The most important things to keep in mind is prevention and gentleness. It is tempting when you want to clear up your skin right away to really attack your skin harshly, but that invariably makes the problem worse.
Get a back brush--or a loofah on a stick--and use it to scrub your back once a day with a gentle cleanser. I like Noxema products for myself, but anything gentle without extra scents and dyes will do. Don't scrub overly hard and don't do it more than once a day. If you shower more than once a day, for the second shower, just let the water run over your back.
As to prevention, make sure you wear clothing that is not overly constricted and is made of breathable material. If you work out or begin to sweat, take a quick rinsing shower. When possible, go without a shirt--especially if you're hanging out in the backyard or so. (Though if you're in heavy sun or will be out for long, apply a non-greasy sunscreen) Sunshine works wonders for skin problems.
Best of luck.
