Question - (9 December 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 9 December 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

my big brother (15) is the clever one, the responsible one, the one who always gets the best marks.

i am good at school, but i do get the odd bad mark.

but i am still good. i am not as...down to earth , lets say, as my brother. if i ever come home with an 8 (we have the 1-10 mark. 1 worst, 10 best) then she goes mad! says i hav to be like my brother and everything. and lately i have been trying REALLY hard but im still not as good as my brother.

why cant my mum just accpet that i'm not as good as my brother and that i great the way i am.

there's only ONE of me, and if people are only going to try and change me, then....i dont know...

any advice???

Grossly unfair on you. I know what it feels like to be the unfavoured sibling; I was the first and unwanted child and my brother came about six years later, welcomed with open arms.

Whereas I could do nothing right, he could do no wrong.

BUT, I made a successful career for myself; he turned out to be an under-educated machine minder.

You carry on thinking highly of yourself, because 80% is good in anyone's money!

That is how my parents are. Maybe for some too. They jsut don't see things the way we do. Like what marieclaire says, talk to your mom about how you feel.
