How can I get his attention without looking a fool?

Hello, I have somewhat of a dilemma here; I'm on a sports team with multi-age and co-ed players. I'm fourteen years old as the site says and I've almost fallen for a thirteen-year old boy. He's absolutely divine; he is tall with long dark hair and big, brown eyes. The thing is, I have no idea how to get his attention! I don't want to appear foolish; for example, talking loudly or throwing myself onto him and saying I tripped. I would feel crushed if he went for another girl, so how exactly could I get his attention? I'm deathly afraid of introducing myself. He's American and I'm not really sure if he would think that was awkward. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated!
