Vitamin e oil and shea butter may also help, but it really depends on your skin type.
AHA and BHA creams with a lightening creams with hydroquinone may help also or retin a cream.
You can also try gentle waves treatments. This will even out skin tone and blotchy areas for any type of skin.
Drinking lots of water, using sun screen, taking vitamins, eating a healthy diet and getting lots of rest will also help.

On your face or your whole epidermis?
Everyone has uneven skin tones on their face, it's often corrected with make-up. If necessary bronzer.
The only suggestion I have was when I worked at a tanning salon, I had a few black(light) customers. One day I just asked why they tanned and they told me it evens out their skin tone.
