writes: Hi everyone Well this isn't about me it's about my best mate. I've known for along time that she self harms. She has a lot of trouble at home and at school, I have always been there and always will be there for her, she does get counselling at school for her self harming but quite recently she told me that she feels fat (and that's the last thing she is) and she said that she sicks up everything she eats because it makes her feel thinner. And that can't be right. I looked it up on the internet and I think its some type of eating disorder. I promised not to tell her parents but me and her decided to tell a teacher we really trust at school and she said she won't tell anyone but my friend needs to get help.I said to her I will try and help her, I want her to go to the doctors (and I'll go with her) but she refused. I don't think she knows how serious this could be.Any ideas on what I could do to help and how I could convince her to get help?xxx

Unfortunately it is very difficult to make someone get help if they don't want to. You are being a great friend to her, and i am sure that she is very grateful she can rely on you. Have a look at this website www.b-eat.co.uk for more informaiton about eating disorders and how to get help. Good luck!
