How can I calm my fears before I see the Doctor for my appointment with Dr in 2 weeks time?

Ok so I know everyone on here is going to tell me to see my Dr- I will do in 2 weeks time as that was the soonest appointment but in the mean time I just wanted some advice/ reassurance.

I found 2 small pea size lumps on 1 side of my neck -at 1st I thought they were spots (as i do often get break outs) so I applied spot cream for a while and forgot about them. Then the other week I noticed they hadn't gone so I came to the assumption they aren't spots but lumps- they aren't painful.

Cue sleepless nights and googling the internet as I'm convinced they are cancerous!! I can't stop crying thinking the worst and I called the dr's up but I have to wait 2 weeks for an appt. I explained to the receptionist my concerns and she said there was nothing she could do!

I feel so sick and have a horrible gut feeling its going to be bad news. I even cancelled seeing my friends as I feel I can't face anyone! I have never felt so scared and helpless in all my life. I'm early 30's, I don't want to die!

Yet I'm healthy- I don't smoke and only have the occasional drink. I do exercise classes and eat well.

I have confided in a close friend and she tried to reassure me I'm ok.

I know nobody on here is a doctor but I don't have hardly anyone to confide in- I live alone and in another town to my parents and don't want to worry them and these 2 weeks are dragging.

Anyone been through this??

Google "NHS Walk-in Centres" in your area. You can just walk in any time with no appointment and see a GP. What is happening to our NHS. The same situation happened to me, no apps available. I had something completely different and ended up threatening o go to A&E. They found me a slot then!

demeplev agony auntWell I can't say I can calm your fears but I can tell you I too had a lump in the back of my neck and it wasn't too big I sorta ignored it thinking it was a knot as I am always stressed then it started to grow... A lot I freaked out went to dr and thankfully these things are quite common they are cysts that grow on the neck region...or anywhere but very common in the neck. I had mine removed for piece of mind biopsy came back it was nothing but a cyst. So don't freak if your not ill and have no other problems most likely it's a cyst. Of course this is something that absolutely needs o be looked at by a dr. A general dr will probably send you either to a surgeon or a dermatologist.. This is normal... .. Good luck please keep us posted.

Ciar agony auntIt sounds like cysts (harmless). I had one of those on my neck (and I too was terrified it was cancer) and it eventually went away on its own. My sister had a couple of cysts removed years ago (also from her neck).

It could also be part of an allergic reaction (again something I've had and thought was cancer) but I had a nasty scab along with it).

I really think you're fine.
