Interesting question and also easy to solve.. Have you ever asked yourself the question: "What does everyone want in life?" well in my opinion everybody wants to be loved.
I have a couple of methods of detecting whether someone likes you that i would love to share with you:
1. Keeping eye contact for a couple of secs; whenever you are both in the same area constatly look at him for a while if he does look back and make eye contact for a while and then turns his face and starts to make sure he looks smart and good then thats a good sign that hes shy towards you which probably means hes interested in you.
2. If you both go out with a group he will always want to do what you chose to do.. For example some people want to go to the mall but you want to go to have a drink at a cafe, he will chose to go have a drink at the cafe.
3. He will always like to please you no matter what; If you want something yourself but can't do/get it he will do everything in his power to get it..
4. Finally the ultimate test.. (Works best if you live close) If you both live in the same neighbour hood this is a very good test, if you 2 were hanging out with people and you decide to go home make sure you tell him ok im heading home, he will probably tell you "I'll walk you home" this is effective if its at night the moon and the stars, the cool breeze adn the silence will kickin. Somehow you both will talk as he walks you home and when you get home make eye contact when leaving hopefully if hes not shy and likes you he'll make a move and give you a kiss or maybe a hug for starters and eventually one time he will go for a kiss.
If you do know one of his best friends a good way is asking your friend to ask his best friend if he has any feelings for you but keep this for last.
