I am at a stage now where I am greatly regretting not having been confident with some people, especially girls and even around some guys. the trend im seeing is that im generally liked by most people and that people seemingly want to get to know me, however, I still seem to fall into these negative thoughts when I come into a situation like this. I feel I have not shown my full self and I know I have so much more to offer, but wanting fix this is easier said than done. As much help as I could get would be much appreciated.

Good for you for trying to move forward and get past this. I suggest you research cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as this may help you manage your negative thinking and improve your thought processes. I have a link that will give you a start in this, I'm sure there are other resources out there for you. http://www.moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome
I also have a link to a fun website that promotes action for a happier society. They have information on reaching personal happiness. http://www.actionforhappiness.org/
Be physically active (endorphins make you feel GREAT) and eat well. Avoid junk food and overly fatty or sugary foods, those are mood-altering in a very negative way. Make positive choices for yourself and you'll see that your confidence and positivity will grow naturally.
Good luck to you!

In work terms i am superwoman a boss who is looked up by all those that work for me. But in a soical life well, thats another matter, I am shy and under confident.
I do try and treat everything like its work that way i have the confidence to do it.
You said that you have had things changed of late, what has changed? And if that has made you feel more confident and happy then hold on to that and use that to help you remain confident.
Those around you clearly like you, so just be yourself. Do not be something you are not, smile a lot because that brings confidence and allows others to smile back at you. And a smile from someone is sometimes all the confidence you need to be yourself.
