i really fancy my friend. she is not close but good friends. she's invited me to go out on a evenin with her mates, i'm the only boy goin so she told me to bring one of my mates so i'm comfortable.

she likes me as a friend because i dont have good looks so i've tried to be a good person towards girls, things like be kind, caring, be a gentlemen, i offer to pay for anything who needs money, i walk them home even if my house is on the total opposite side etc. and she especially loves that! i'm not pushy, so she doesn't love me but i wanna make her have a good time with me!

any ideas what i could say to her? i dont think askin her out would be a good idea yet. i'm goin on holiday next week so i want to leave with a good memory with her lol. i need to be careful with what i do she is extremely clever.

so any idea how to ask her to come out alone with me another time? maybe ask her on the night. i dont want it to sound like a date! plz help she is my day and night!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (9 December 2006):

Well, first off you should get her on her own. If you ask her in front of her mates she might get a bit flustered.

It might be a good idea to get really close as mates (for a start there wouldn't be any awkward silences!) so that you know each other well. Then just gently break it to her that you'd like to be more than friends.

Be prepared for her to say no, because, after all, she's only ever known you as a close friend. You should also tell her that if she says no you won't be offended and you don't want to end your good friendship, because often that is what happens in situations like this.

You say you buy a lot of things; be careful it doesn't look like you're buying affection!

Good luck; I hope it works out for you, but if it doesn't, remember that there are other girls out there who I'm sure would love a date with you =]

All the things you are doing is great apart from paying all the time. Be careful not be used.
