How can he have a girlfriend if he really loves me!

hey..i know im only 16 but i really need help! i already talked to my mom about it but i need some one elses opinion too please. ok so i know this guy since like 4 years ago and the very first day i seen him i was like WOW!(and i was only 12) we started talking two years ago when i was 14 and he was 15 he was my first(and so fare only) kiss and the first guy i ever held hands with. cute huh? theres a catch he lives in mexico and i live here!!!...me and his mom are also very close and every time i go back she always tells me how much he likes me and talks about me and how im the first and only girl that she can see that he takes seriously. so this summer i went back and everything was wonderful he tolled me he loved me, i was about to give him my virginity too (dont worrie i didnt). so when i came back we still keeped in touch and everything. but then like about a month ago he went like a whole week with out calling or texting me i thought he was busy with work but then i found out he had a girlfriend!!! it totally broke my heart cuz i hade been so loyal and according to his mom he has been to until now. so i called him and asked him about it and he didnt even denie it he said that he has a girlfirned becouse like 3 ppl had tolled him i had a boyfriend...he said that he still does love me like his never loved someone befor but he has to forget me becouse he dosnt like seeing me only every 6 months and becouse he dosnt know if to belive me or the other three people becouse we live so far he dosnt want me or him to get hurt from the distence between us. my family has planned flying down there this january but i really dont want to go..should i go or should i not? my mom tolled me to give him the cold shoulder and not to talk to him again and he wil sooo come back to me and want me more cuz she knows his mom too..does that even work??..what should i do i still love him to and i want him back HELP!
