I have minimal experience with being penetrated by a penis, and I know this has much to do with why it was so painful for me not to mention another reason. My ex has a 12 inch penis and while I often fantisized about him penetrating me, it never happened because our relationship dissolved prior to getting to that level, and I know that one of the reasons our relationship dissoved (although he doesn't know) is because I was petrified of his 12 inch dick paired with his sexual expertise. I have a minimal sexual experience and I was embarrassed and ashamed about it, and it made me immensely insecure about how he might perceive me because of it. I didn't want to be hurt, if he found it a turnoff. But long story short, I'm petrified of him sexually, but I'm so very deeply in love with him. And the funny thing is the night he and I started talking about intimacy on that level, I was pretending to be so experienced, like I could put him to shame as I thought we were just joking, when I realized he was serious and also told me that his penis was 12 inches long, I got so quiet and started retracting because all I could feel myself doing was shaking so nervous and I felt like I just was gonna throw up from fear and he wasn't even physically near me.

Agree with the first comment. Although I would say 8/9 is my limit before panic!! My bf is 7 (which is average) so that's the best size to be in myopinion!!

 Used properly even a 10 incher can be endured.
Used improperly, 5 inches can be too much.
On an average though, beyond 8.5 gets me worried.
