His comment made me think that he's less experienced than I thought and this bothered me! How can I stop thinking this way ?

A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

This is probably going to sound stupid but here goes...

I'm an 18 year old virgin and I have been seeing an older guy for a few months now. The other night he fingered me for the first time and it was very good, but afterwards he said "Wow, I've always wanted to do that, I never have before." That was kind of a surprise for me.

Now I'm starting to think that maybe he's a virgin. Is it possible to have had sex with a girl but never even fingered one? And for some reason I feel disappointed with this. I guess because he's older I assumed he'd be more experienced than I am, so thinking that he isn't is sort of bothering me. But it shouldn't bother me because I'm inexperienced too and it's completely shallow to think about this sort of thing. I care about him and nothing's going to change that, but how do I stop thinking this way and stop the stupid disappointment that I have??

A female reader, Midge United Kingdom +, writes (13 April 2007):

Midge agony auntFirstly the fact that he could possibly be inexperienced should be a good thing. That means that he has morals as far as sleeping around is concerned and obviously thinks long and hard about his sexual partners before he goes ahead with it. You should be delighted with that! I know I would be!

Secondly, just because he hasnt done certain things with other people doesnt mean he isnt experienced. It simply means that he hasnt done everything with other girls before. I am 31 and can honestly say that I havent done everything with other guys before. It just means that I havent done that! Perhaps he hasnt been comfortable doing that with anyone before?
