When I got back inside my house I went to my batherroom and I took out the tampon. I didn't bleed much since it was the end but it looked like the tip of the tampon was missing, I was REALLY and STILL am really scared. I don't now if it just looked like that cause I went swiming or what. Now I am scared the I have some tampon in me!! I am so scred. I private area has been feeling irratated all day today. DO u know what might be going on? Is it dangerous?? Can I die from this??? Cause like no joke on the tampon box it said if left in to long u can get an infection and DIE. WHat do I do? Is this normal????

Thanks for ur help it will be greatly appreciated!!!!

dont worry. i would recommend talking to your mom or parent and if they say you might want 2 see a doctor just in case. i tryed a tampon for the first time a little while ago. it probably looks like that because it opened up a funny way. i wouldnt recomend putting in another tampon though stay with pads. and you get tss not by leaving it in 2 long but its just in the plastic.

Yes, you can get toxic shock syndrome, my dad's close friend died from it.

Agree with other comments very rare for them to break but don't think ur going to relax until you have it checked. Having irriration could be due to worrying about it, best to be safe and just have it checked. Would suggest though not to use them at end of your period if very light in the future.x

Honeypie agony auntYou can get pretty sick from leaving a tampon in too long, not sure about dying though. If you suspect you still have anything left in there call your GYN and get in to see her/him ASAP. CALL! Now. Better be safe then sorry.

let us know ok?

eyeswideopen agony auntI never had a tampon break apart (used them for 44 years) so I really don't think that's the case here. But to ease your fears, tell your Mom and she can decide whether you should be checked out by a doctor. Toxic shock is very rare but it does exist.
