Hi, I've recently got a new boyfriend we've been together about a month and I've recently found out I've got IBS, and it's really bad.

I think my boyfriend's getting annoyed as a lot of the time we make plans and I end up being too ill to go. Or he wants me to go out to dinner but I can't eat out at the moment because I'm still trying to find out what I can and can't eat. What do I do? xxx

Well the simple answer is to stop planning things in advance.

Most things in the world don't require you to book.

That way he can just give you a ring and see if you are up to doing anything - or if you are really well one night you can ring him and suggest cinema etc.

As for restaurants - I am sure there are certain things like chips or boiled rice that you can eat without fear. So just go and order something small and plain. It'll be a bit embarressing but they'll just assume you are a fussy eater. Don't go anywhere too posh. Pubs and chinese places won't mind what you do.

Good Luck!! xx
