I think you did the right thing. Guys appreciate it when a girl takes the iniative (or so a lot of my guy friends have told me). Also, even if he doesn't like you, don't you think it would be better to get it out in the open so you can move on?? Anyway, I hope this helps :D

 I think u did the right thing, when guys like a girl they tend their ability to say the right thing.
They are very nevious so some times it helps for the girl to make the first move.
