We got along well, and when he left, he wrote his number on the check. a few days later, I decided to text message him, but he was working at the time. He never called me or texted me afterwards! I don't think I should try to contact him again, since I basically showed him that I was interested by contacting him in the first place, but I want other people's opinions on this matter. It has been only a few days since we spoke, do you think he is just playing it cool, or do you think he does not care to speak to me? Should I try to talk to him again? Why would he give me his phone number if he didn't care? Replies from both genders are welcomed, but gentlemen, I want you to be brutally honest!

I think you are right in not approaching him again. You got in contact with him and showed you were interested and he has obviously changed his mind. I would move on and try to forget the guy. He may be playing it cool and waiting to respond but you can't sit around and wait forever!
