He was just being friendly, right?

A female United Kingdom age 51-59, anonymous writes:

A young guy has recently started at out workplace and was being introduced to everyone and he came into the room I was in, smiled and said hello but as he left and while I was talking to his manager he winked at me.

I know I should probably take it as a compliment but I didn't expect a new employee to do that and especially someone 20 years younger than me.

As I sit in a different room to him I don't see him that often but today when I popped into the office he was outside with a work colleague and as soon as he saw me he said hello with a big smile on his face.

Is it safe to say that he is just being friendly, I was just taken aback by a young man winking at me.

So_Very_Confused agony auntAre you interested in him? I'm never sure why folks worry about some light flirtation unless it makes them uncomfortable or they are interested in the person and trying to interpret behavior.

Maybe he has a tic?

Maybe he likes you?

Maybe he just likes to flirt?

I had a 92 yr old guy flirt with me on sunday.... I needed to get past him and reach something and I said "excuse me I just need to reach past you and I promise not to hit you" he said to me "you could sit on my lap instead"

now I found this adorable that a 92 year old guy (he told me his age) was that much fun... so maybe when he was 20 something he was a winker too!

Some people are just winkers. No, I didn't say wankers lol

I've known people in my professional life who would wink at coworker as a friendly gesture.

I wouldn't think anything of it. Not everyone sees a wink as flirty. My boyfriend's dad winks at everyone all the time, including me. It doesn't mean anything.

olderthandirt agony auntIprobably safe to assume he was EXTREEMLY nervous and had no idea what the heck he was doing other than acknowledging the meeting. He's probably curled up somewhere going,"Oh darn did I really just wink and run?"
