We talked and laughed and gazed in each other's eyes for the first time which felt really strange. Afterwards when he was taking me home he mentioned that the next time I'm home we could meet at his house. What could he possibly mean by that? Is he feeling less shy in front of me now? I think he likes me, too.

I think the eye contact is key with his intentions. Maybe he wants to have you over for dinner? It's a likely possibility.
If he's a friend you have nothing to worry about and you should just go over and enjoy the time you spend together.
However if your wanting a romantic relationship and he hasn't mentioned it,Don't be afraid to!Guys are expected to do a lot such as ask the girl out and things of that nature. It's extremely nerve racking for some guys and if you ask you could be helping him out a lot...

Sounds like he really likes you and may want to firstly start with a movie followed by a bit of lovin if you catch my drift.
