He still dreams about his old love interest, what does this mean?

My BF of 2 yrs woke up in the middle of the night, told me he had a bad dream about old memories. When he came back to bed I asked if it had to do with his unrequited love interest from 4 yrs ago, he said "yes". Should I take this to mean he's still in love with her? He's told me he loves me but I think she's still very much in his heart. What should I do? What does this usually mean?
