He's told me he's loved me in a dating sort of manner for the last year or so, but he started dating one of my friends just a couple of weeks ago. We've been getting into on and off fights since then, but we still hang out like normal. It really hurts that he claims he loves me, but he's after my friend. Does he really love me or was he just playing me?

He loves you, but doesn't want to date you or have you as a gf? That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? You know why it doesn't? Because it's BS. He is playing you. If he had any real feelings for you, he'd be dating you instead of your friend.

it sounds like he was just playing you hun. Sorry i know that's probably not what you wanted to hear right now..
he sounds to me like he wants the best of both worlds. Maybe he thinks he can get any girl to fall for him.
I'm sorry to be harsh, but i would give him a wide birth x
