He said I was cute but he likes someone else

so there is a guy that i really really like. He is a year older than me. I meet him in the beginning of december. And we have been hanging out for a while. Just last friday he asked me if i was cute. I said yea, but i don't think u think i am cute. He said i do think u r cute its just that i like someone else, and he also said that he didn't want to hurt me. So what do u think, i am go confused about him! and i don't know what to do.
