A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

A friend who is male and I had plans to do something one day and I made plans to do something that day and set aside time. He text me the day before saying that he had to go out of town. Later that week I discovered that he took a woman shopping that day, totally standing me up. It is a platonic relationship but I still feel disrespected by his lack of consideration for me.

What do you think?

Anonymous, thank you! I knew had had a right to be upset, but was a little unsure that I may be over-reacting. Your comment puts it into prospective. Pftt, now I'm really hot.

I would be upset aswell. you took time out of your day to spend some time with your friend. He should be a little more considerate and not tell you lies. I would explain that you knew about him taking another woman in your place and let him know that you broke your plans for him and don't appreciate what he did. talk to him. If he's a true friend he will listen and appologize for his actions.
