Later that week I discovered that he took a woman shopping that day, totally standing me up. It is a platonic relationship but I still feel disrespected by his lack of consideration for me.What do you think?

I would explain that you knew about him taking another woman in your place and let him know that you broke your plans for him and don't appreciate what he did. talk to him. If he's a true friend he will listen and appologize for his actions.
