A female reader, RedAthena United States +, writes (12 July 2011):

RedAthena agony auntYou are not running away from your problems if you stand up to this unreliable person.

Tell him what you think.

"No, I will not be dating you. You are unreliable and being stood up hurt my feelings. You have more than enough chances to correct this hurtful thing, so do not waste my time."

Teach him that you will not accept being treated that way.

Never face a problem that you can entirely eliminate. Why even waste the energy? You can get rid of this whole problem right now by saying 'no', then cutting contact and leaving him in the past. He will hurt you, so why get hurt when you can get rid of him.

You would be a fool to go. You will know that you are a fool. He will know that you are a fool.

End of story.
