He didn't come inside me, but yes, it was penetrative sex. Could I be pregnant?

A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Hi there, this is a question about the mini-pill Cerazette.

I missed taking my pill for 3 consecutive days (weekend break and I forgot to take it with me, argh), then had been taking my pill for 3 days after I got back before having unprotected sex on the third day.

Was this ok, or could I be pregnant?

For the record, I made sure he didn't come inside me, though we did have penetrative sex.

Anyone got any input?

Thankyou! xx

ArmyMedic agony auntOH YES you really could be pregnant, what you did was VERY silly indeed! If this happened less than 72 hours ago I strongly suggest that you go and get the Emergency Contraceptive Pill (morning after pill)

If it is more than 72 hours, go and see a doctor.

In future if you have any doubt about your protection make him wear a condom, no excuses they are available anywhere and it is only as embarrassing to buy them as it is for you to go and collect your pill from the chemist. (embarrassment is the main reason why boys don't have condoms on them)

Carly72 agony auntHi Hunny

I work in pharmacy and I would advise you to go and get the morning after pill (need to take within 72 hours of intercourse). The 'mini-pill' needs to be taken every day within a two hour window each day otherwise you may not be protected. The fact that your partner did not ejaculate inside you obviously reduces the risk of you becoming pregnant but it is not a 100% that his semen and sperm have not entered you.

Of course if you are happy at the fact you could be pregnant then stop taking your Cerazette. Either way, see your family doctor of pharmacist for advice as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Carly
