writes: hi there, I need some advice please!! I have recently started Cerezette pill (mini pill) and am 2 1/2 weeks into taking it. I am discovering very very sore breasts and bloatedness, very tired and moody. Im assuming these are all related to the pill....but... I am still paranoid that I had sex 6 days into taking the pill and started the pill on the second day of my period (as suggested by the Doctor). According to the instructions it states that you should use a barrier method for the 1st 7days of taking the pill if you start it after your period. Then I read other reviews saying you are protected as soon as you take the pill anytime upto the 5th day of taking it!! Im so confused but worried too!! Am i pregnant?? I cant take a pregnancy test as Im not due for a week. Or are these side affects? I would appreciate any advice! Thank you!!

Hello! I take the mini pill too, and I must say I havent any problems with it. But I do know that the bloatedness and the sore breasts are a side affect, and will calm down after a little while, once your body has got used to you taking it. Now from memory when I first started taking the mini pill It was on the first day of my period. The doctor said that I would be protected from the word go after this. I dont think in all honesty day 2 is going to make an amazing amount of difference, so try not to worry too much, the mini pill if taken correctly is one of the most effective forms of contraception, so long as it is taken correctly and so long as you take it at the same time everyday there shouldnt be any problems. I can understand why you are worried because it was strange for me too when I first started taking the pill as you cant believe that you cant get pregnant now by taking this tiny tablet and it takes a while to sink in! The affects you say you are having are coupled with worry, its normal to have mood swings and sore breasts etc, and generally they subside, so I very much doubt that you would be pregnant, but if you are still concerned do please go to your doctor. Another thing to consider also though is that some woman when on the mini pill dont have periods, some do some dont, mine suddenly stopped for 2 years! then suddenly came back, but have to say they are hardly noticeable anymore! so its a good thing me thinks! Try not to worry, your body will get used to taking the pill and things will calm down. Im sure you will be okay. If you have any other concerns feel free to ask, or go along to your doctor.
Take care!
