 You probably soon of broke up with him sooner but you did this because you care so essentially it was a respectable thing that you did. Don't let his friends get to you, you didn't do anything bad here and they're in the wrong for calling you out like that. Try to just get on with your life, you don't have any reasons to blame yourself for anything.
