writes: Ok I guess this is a sex question since I'm scared to have sex! I am in my 24th week of pregnancy with my first child. I woke up the morning of the 4th and could barely walk! It felt as if someone took a sledge hammer to my pelvis! I stayed in bed most of the day since it hurt so bad to walk or move. I feel like my hips are going to pop out of place and the pain is starting to spread. I know its not a bladder infection or uti because the actual pubic bone hurts. I looked it up in my what to expect book and it matched completely to symphysis pubic dysfunction. It said it can occur when the hormone relaxin causes the pubic bone to spread too early before labor. Has anyone heard of this? How early is early? And how often does it actually occur? I don't get to go to my doctor til next week and it hurts now! Please help! Reply to this Question Share |

You'll need the help of a friend or family member. To releave the discomforts lye on your side. Have someone gently raise your leg up so that the knee points up to the ceiling. Your knee can be bent. The important thing is to have your knee out to your side almost directly over your hip. Next, the one helping you needs to gently (GENTLY) lift your leg with just enough pressure for you to feel it being pulled towards the ceiling directly over the hip. Make sure there is NO PAIN. It should feel comfortable with no pain, a good hurt is ok, but make sure there is no pain.Relax your leg.Hold that position for over a minute. As the person helping you relaxes the pull, you may feel the your leg go back into the hip socket. It can feel like a clunk. This is a good thing.Do this same sequence two times maybe even 3.Turn over and repeat on the other side.Remember, the one helping you will do as you ask so make sure you don't feel any pain. Good stretch or good hurt is ok. Slow gentle holding works a hundred times better than any rubbing, jabbing, or quick movements. This technique comes from the Pregnancy Pain Relief Book by Keih Cox. You can google it.I hope this helps.Good Luck

Firefighter's Wife 09 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThank you everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone else had it first before I became a complete hypochondriac.
I'm going to call my doctors office today. Its not too serious seeing as how there is no blood and the baby is just as bouncy as ever.
It just hurts.
Thanks again!
