I remember back when I was 14. I was staying at a friends house when I first had one of these. I opened my eyes and could see myself lying on the bed. It was like I was a different person looking upon the world. It was the strangest thing that had ever happened to me up until then. I could see my mum and stepdad talking about my uncle who was dying. I was in a completely different house in a different part of the city. At first, I put it down to being a dream, until a few days later when I found out that my uncle was ill. Then I realised that there was maybe something behind it.
Over the years, this became more frequent and would sometimes even encounter my younger self. Most of these encounters resulted in us fighting each other. I grew to to accept this as being normal until the age of 19 when I spoke to a researcher at my local library. I learned that these OBE's were not normal, but not as uncommon as people think. Many people would put this down to dreaming or drug use.
Most of my experiences have usually occured because of ill health to family or friends. Although I mainly tend to wander aimlessly, I feel there is reasoning behind my experiences. Am I supposed to be able to influence it? I don't know.
I am 30 now and still have no idea why this happens. The last time I had an experience was last year. 3 weeks prior to finding out I was ill. Could it be linked? Who knows?
If you want to chat about any of it, feel free to message me.

Hi Nena,
I have night terrors, which you might have, too. It's not an "out of body experience," but it might seem like it is. What happens during night terrors with me:
- I am sleeping
- I can still open my eyes and look around the room
- I am paralyzed and cannot move; if I try to there is a tremendous pressure in my stomach or lower abdomen
- I cannot talk, I can only breathe heavily
- I have screamed once, which woke me up and scared the hell out of me (and my husband!)
- Since I'm dreaming, I have what I can only describe as very, VERY vivid hallucinations
- I have seen "monsters": people without skin crawling on my floor trying to grab me, skinned animals running around my room, and even figures sitting on my back
- I have seen "normal things": people breaking into the house (nobody was there)
- I have seen myself walking around or even sleeping still in the bed
- I have been heaved off of my bed and into a desk (this only happened once)
- I have been pulled to the end of my bed so my feet touch the floor
I have them about once or twice a month and it's either just really annoying or insanely (!!!) scary. I don't know why I have this happen - I've even been to psychologists. I used to think it was from stress, but sometimes I get them when I'm prefectly happy. Perhaps you are experiencing the same thing...
You might want to ask members of your family what about your experiences, because many times it's genetic. My cousin and grandmother both experience them.
Here are some links that you might want to look over:

Hope this helps. :)

No, can't say I have. What other people may have interpreted to be out-of-body experiences have happened to me, but I don't believe in them. What I have experienced was shock, awe, and disbelief. All of these things are commonly misunderstood as out-of-body experiences. Hmmm. Something to think about though. :)
