 when i was younger i heard my dad and his girlfriend having sex and i was revolted by it.. it's not a very nice situation for your child, believe me, i know.

 i heard my parents having sex when i was younger and i hated it. i was digusted and ashamed, and i was also annoyed that they didnt seem to care that their children were in the house. but i was older than the age your child is, i was a teen!! just close the door at night and be more aware of your son. maybe just make sure he's fast asleep?!!

reader, anonymous, writes (20 February 2008): I sometimes heard my parents have sex and I felt annoyed and ashamed - mainly because I felt they didn't care that I heard and it made me feel isolated. Maybe my reaction was wrong - but that was the way I felt. It is important that you don't humiliate your child by making them put up with the noise so maybe it would be good to either be more discreet or put some music on?!

 Once at age 5 my eldest child said to my husband, "I know what you and Mommy are doing in the bedroom at night." My husband dreading the worse (explaining sex to a 5 year old daughter) held his breath. Then she said, "Playing tag 'cause I can hear Mommy laughing." Even to this day, close to 30 years later my husband will nudge me with his elbow and ask if I want to go play tag.

reader, anonymous, writes (20 February 2008): I never heard my parents having sex and at one time we lived in a one bedroom apartment/shack which had no door on it. Consider yourself lucky that he didn't walk in on you having sex! That has happened to a few of my friends.
Now my only regret about this subject is this. A ex-girl
of mine and I were having sex in her place and we were very verbal....after about 3 hours of this wild unabandoned sex, I heard a noise in the other room....it was her 15 year old son who heard everything and I do mean
EVERY single thing! I was truly ashamed and somewhat embarrassed, because he looked up to me and he heard me tell his mother to do things....well you get my point!
