I'm laughing, because I sympathize with both of you. This bad economy sucks! Remember that your parents are trying to keep the whole family afloat.
I have an idea. Tonight, why don't you say to your mom, "You keep telling me how tough times are, but I don't really understand what that means for our family. Can you please explain what things we have to pay for and what things we have to cut back on? And how much clothing can I realistically expect to buy?"
That way you'll get a better picture of what your parents are thinking about and why your mom keeps saying "no to jeans." And I bet your mom will be happy that you really want to understand. You might end up having a great discussion, and you will probably understand better when to expect a new pair of jeans. Make sure you mention that you're still growing and will need new clothes. I'm sure she knows that already, though :)

When my daughter wants something special over and above her usual stuff she 'earns' the money helping me out around the house or yard. Maybe you can try this. Be a little understanding though because times ARE tough right now and it really is hard to save money. Hang in there!
